Virginia Lynn Driscoll Killed in Livermore Car Accident

The 58-year-old Walnut Creek resident died after a two-vehicle collision on Vasco Road
Virginia Lynn Driscoll, 58, of Walnut Creek, was killed in a two-vehicle crash at Vasco Road and Old Vasco Road in unincorporated Livermore on May 7, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics transported Driscoll, the sole occupant of a northbound Chevrolet Cobalt, to a local hospital with serious injuries following the 11:20 p.m. collision. Investigators determined a GMC Canyon pickup was making a left turn onto the southbound lanes when the vehicles collided.
Driscoll was pronounced dead just after midnight on May 8. The occupants of the pickup truck were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Families who lose loved ones in intersection collisions often face a sudden and overwhelming grieving process while waiting for official crash reports.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "Fatal roadway crashes rarely result from single causes, as multiple factors including speed, distraction, vehicle condition, roadway design and environmental conditions often combine to create catastrophic outcomes requiring thorough multifaceted investigations."
Understanding what caused a crash takes careful analysis across many fields. An attorney can bring together crash reconstruction experts, engineers, roadway specialists, and toxicologists to build complete findings, added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
What is the investigation progress?
"Surviving families face overwhelming emotional trauma and financial devastation following fatal roadway crashes, often confronting mounting funeral expenses, lost income and complicated insurance claims while grieving profound losses," noted Stefano Formica, who serves as a national legal analyst for Accident News and is of counsel at Bond Legal.
Experienced legal counsel can manage investigations, preserve evidence, retain experts, and negotiate with insurers. This allows surviving relatives to focus on healing and remembrance.
Authorities are still examining the circumstances surrounding the Vasco Road collision. Investigators typically review physical evidence, vehicle damage, and any available witness statements to determine fault and liability in such crashes.
California wrongful death statute
Under Cal. Code Civ. Proc. § 377.60, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. California applies pure comparative fault. The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and the decedent's pre-death pain and suffering.
