How to get your crash report in North Carolina
Not in North Carolina? Pick your state
The report names everyone involved and records what happened. Insurers rely on it, and any claim you make is built on it.
- 1
Know what it's called
Every agency in the state writes the same form, so the report has one name whoever responded.
- 2
Find where to request it
Every report ends up at NCDMV, whoever responded to the crash. Mail form TR-67A, or bring it to NCDMV's offices in Raleigh or Huntersville and leave with up to 5 reports the same day.
- 3
Check what a copy costs
That fee buys a certified copy, the only kind NCDMV issues, and a mailed request cannot pay in cash.
- 4
Expect the wait
Allow about 10 business days after NCDMV gets a mailed request. In person, you can leave with it the same day. A city or county report can take longer to reach NCDMV, because that agency has 10 days to forward it.
