1 Injured in Marshall County Train Accident
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Anes Station Road, and the motorist was flown from the scene by medical helicopter.
One person was injured when a train struck a medical transport van on Anes Station Road in Marshall County on October 26, according to the Farmington Fire Department.
How the Anes Station Road Crash Unfolded
The Farmington Fire Department said it was dispatched shortly after 1 p.m. along with several other agencies, including Tennessee Highway Patrol and Marshall County EMS. Firefighters said they found the van had reportedly been hit by a northbound train and thrown from the road, down a steep embankment. The van's driver was the only person inside and was trapped in the driver's seat. Crews used hydraulic rescue tools to free the motorist, then raised the person to the road with a hoist and a rope pulley system connected to an off-road vehicle winch line. The Farmington Fire Department said the motorist stayed awake and kept talking to rescuers, then was taken to a waiting medical helicopter for immediate transport.
What Is Still Unknown After the Marshall County Crash
No details have been released about the nature of the motorist's injuries. The Farmington Fire Department said crews worked with the CSX Police Department to move the train and slow other rail traffic so towing and recovery teams could remove the van. Tennessee Highway Patrol has not released further information about the investigation.
Trains carry event recorders, much like an airplane's black box, and investigators download that data early on. Making sense of it alongside everything else is what takes time.

Here is what people in Tennessee usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
