How the I-30 Crash Near Northwest Drive Unfolded
The Texas Department of Transportation said the westbound lanes were shut down shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday. Mesquite police said officers were handling an earlier collision when a car struck the fire truck, which was parked across the lanes to shield that scene. Police said nobody was inside the fire truck and no firefighters were injured. Officials said both people in the car were taken to a hospital. Their names and the extent of their injuries have not been released.
What Mesquite Police Are Looking Into
Mesquite police said officers are investigating the crash. No charges have been announced. Police said the westbound lanes were closed for close to four hours before they reopened.
Investigators often ask nearby homes and businesses for camera video soon after a crash. Many systems record over old footage after a few days or weeks, so they move fast.

Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
