2 Killed in Seguin Car Accident
Authorities named the two Texas Lutheran University students who died on State Highway 46 as A'Jean Augustine, 20, of Allen, and Deyreck Dean, 23, of Rockwall.
A'Jean Augustine, 20, of Allen, and Deyreck Dean, 23, of Rockwall, were killed in a single-vehicle car crash on State Highway 46 in Seguin on November 2, according to the Seguin Police Department.
The Early Morning Crash on Highway 46
Officers were notified of the wreck at roughly 2:38 a.m. along the 1900 block of State Highway 46 North. Police said a 2012 Kia Sorento was heading south toward Seguin when it moved into the northbound lanes and hit a guardrail at the bridge over FM Road 78. Police said the car then slid a short way along the barrier before it came to rest. Both people inside died at the scene, and police said no other vehicle was involved.
Police identified Augustine as the driver and Dean as the passenger. Both were students at Texas Lutheran University, and the school said both were student-athletes with ties to its football program. The university's football rosters list Augustine as a junior kicker for 2026 and Dean as a senior linebacker for 2025.
Where the Seguin Police Investigation Stands
Police said the crash investigation is still ongoing. Police described the findings so far as preliminary, and no charges have been announced. The university said its community will long feel the impact of the loss.
Investigators work quickly at the scene because marks on the road and other evidence fade fast. Much of the slower work happens later, away from the scene.

Here is what families in Texas usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
