The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Thomas A. Brown, 41, of Bucyrus, who died in a crash on South State Street.
A semi driver was killed in a crash on South State Street near Gurley Avenue in Marion on Oct. 22. The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Thomas A. Brown, 41, of Bucyrus.
How the South State Street Crash Unfolded
The crash happened at about 10:40 a.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Brown was driving a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer north when it hit three cars parked on the east side of the road: a 2023 Jeep Cherokee, a 2012 Dodge Caravan and a 2006 BMW 520. Troopers said the truck then went off the right side of the road, hit two utility poles, an embankment and a house, and overturned. The patrol said Brown was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene. The patrol did not report any other injuries.
Where the Patrol Investigation Stands
Troopers from the patrol's Marion Post are leading the investigation, which is still open. Marion police, the fire department, the Marion County Coroner's Office and other local crews helped at the scene. No charges have been announced.
Roads are often closed for hours after a serious crash so investigators can measure and photograph the scene before anything is moved.

Here is what families in Ohio usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
