Driver Killed in Kandiyohi County Truck Accident
The State Patrol identified the driver as Brittany Ann Gehrke, 33, of Cosmos, who died in a crash with a semi on Highway 7 early Thursday.
Brittany Ann Gehrke, a 33-year-old SUV driver from Cosmos, was killed in a crash with a semi on Highway 7 in East Lake Lillian Township, Kandiyohi County, on October 29, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
How the Highway 7 Crash Unfolded
The State Patrol said the crash was reported at about 2:29 a.m. Gehrke was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander west on Highway 7 when it collided with an eastbound semi. She died at the scene.
Neither the semi driver nor his passenger, a 23-year-old man from Willmar, was hurt. The State Patrol said the semi's occupants were wearing seat belts and Gehrke was not. Troopers also said alcohol was not involved.
What the State Patrol Review Covers
The State Patrol's preliminary crash report describes a head-on collision between the two vehicles. Portions of Highway 7 were briefly closed while the crash was investigated. No charges have been announced.
Many newer cars keep a short record of the moments around a crash. Investigators may download that data, and making sense of it can take weeks.

Here is what families in Minnesota usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
