1 Killed, 1 Injured in Lancaster Car Accident
The driver has been identified as Burke Duncan Jr., 86, who died at a hospital after a crash on SC 9 in Lancaster.
Burke Duncan Jr., 86, was killed in a car crash on Pageland Highway (SC 9) at Heyward Hough Road in Lancaster on October 28, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
How the Crash on SC 9 Unfolded
Troopers responded to reports of the crash at around 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one car, a 2012 Honda, was headed east on SC 9 when a 2000 Buick pulled out of a driveway toward the road. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Duncan, who was driving the Buick, was taken from the scene to MUSC-Lancaster hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The Honda driver was taken to a hospital by EMS with minor injuries, according to the patrol.
Where the Highway Patrol Investigation Stands
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash. No charges have been announced.
Investigators work quickly at the scene because marks on the road and other evidence fade fast. Much of the slower work happens later, away from the scene.

Here is what families in South Carolina usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
