How the Southbound I-75 Crash Unfolded
The crash happened early Tuesday morning and involved a MARTA bus. Clayton County police said a pickup crashed into the rear of the bus and the driver of the pickup was killed. No passengers were on the bus at the time, and its driver was not injured. All southbound lanes of I-75 near Forest Parkway were shut down, and traffic backed up toward Interstate 285.
Road Closures and What Remains Unreleased
Another crash was reported near the backup approaching I-285, and Exit 58 on I-285 was closed. Delays reached back to Central Avenue, and drivers were advised to use Jonesboro Road or Old Dixie Highway. Police have not released the name of the person who died. No charges have been announced.
Vehicles from a serious crash are often towed to a secure lot and held for inspection. That is a standard step, and the vehicles can be held for weeks.

Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
