Erick John, 32, of Lake Charles, was killed in a three-vehicle accident early Thursday morning on Louisiana Highway 27 near Louisiana Highway 397 in Bell City, according to Louisiana State Police. The driver suspected of causing the crash, Alfonso Arredondo, 32, of Port Neches, Texas, faces multiple charges including vehicular homicide. Investigators said Arredondo's 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was driving south on Highway 27 when it crossed the centerline, sideswiping a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. The Silverado then left the road, entered a ditch, and overturned. John was wearing a seatbelt but suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and four passengers in the Hyundai were taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Arredondo showed signs of impairment during the investigation, troopers said. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
