The 20-year-old Ridgecrest resident died in crash on U.S. 395 near Bowman Road
Harmony Anne Hoyer, 20, of Ridgecrest, was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on U.S. Route 395 near Bowman Road in Inyokern on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The semi-truck jackknifed across the highway lanes before colliding with the passenger vehicle. Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the passenger vehicle dead at the scene.
Authorities closed a stretch of Highway 395 between China Lake Boulevard and Inyokern Road through Wednesday morning, routing traffic through nearby Ridgecrest. The Kern County Coroner's Office responded to the crash site to assist with the investigation.
Investigators have not released details regarding what caused the semi-truck to lose control. The sudden loss has deeply affected the Ridgecrest community, where residents are mourning the young woman's death.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
