How the crash happened
A vehicle struck Finlaw while he was riding an electric dirt bike at approximately 9:35 p.m. The crash occurred near the intersection of West Broad Street and Lawrence Street. The driver stopped at the scene following the collision.
Why the crash may have happened
Finlaw was riding an electric dirt bike when he was struck by a vehicle at a city intersection at night. According to NHTSA, U.S. motorcyclists accounted for 16% of all traffic deaths in 2024. Finkelstein added, "Because the law weighs each driver's duty of care, investigators reconstruct a motorcycle crash from the sight lines, the point of impact, and the other vehicle's movements to establish whether a motorist turned across the rider's path or failed to look."
