Bicyclist Injured in Castle Rock Accident
The bicyclist has been identified as Andre Hubbard, 59, of Olympia, who was taken to St. John Medical Center after a late-night crash on I-5.
Andre Hubbard, 59, of Olympia, was injured in a bicycle crash on northbound I-5 in Castle Rock on November 1, according to the Washington State Patrol.
What Happened on Northbound I-5
The crash happened at about 10:04 p.m. near milepost 49. The Washington State Patrol said Hubbard was crossing the interstate on a bicycle, moving from the east shoulder toward the median. A 2025 Volkswagen Atlas was traveling in the far-left lane of northbound I-5 when it struck him. Hubbard was found injured when help arrived and was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center. The 31-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, from Fife, and a passenger were not hurt.
Where the State Patrol Review Stands
Troopers said Hubbard was not wearing a Department of Transportation-compliant helmet. The State Patrol said neither person involved is believed to have been impaired. Troopers listed obstructing traffic as the cause of the crash. The State Patrol has not announced any charges.
Roads are often closed for hours after a serious crash so investigators can measure and photograph the scene before anything is moved.

Here is what people in Washington usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your belongings. A damaged bike, phone, or clothes can be part of what insurance pays for.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
