The Early Morning Crash on Folmar Parkway

The crash happened early Tuesday near where Folmar Parkway meets Bill Joseph Parkway, and officers arrived to find Hur dead. Hur was a husband and a father. His family said he began working as a truck driver around the time of the pandemic, hoping to save enough money for mission trips with his wife. He was working when he was killed. His family said he spent his life serving and giving to others, and that they plan to look after his wife as a way to honor him.

Where the Montgomery Investigation Stands

Investigators identified the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu as Tashanna Diane Harris, 26. Harris has been charged with tampering with evidence and felony hit-and-run. According to charging documents, she met with police in a Cong W L Dickinson Drive parking lot that afternoon and gave a statement voluntarily. The documents said she told investigators she drove a short distance, pulled over, became nervous and then went home. They also said she had a glass company repair her windshield, which was damaged in the collision. Hur's family started a GoFundMe to help his wife.

Police often share a description of the vehicle they are looking for, such as its color or the damage it may have. Those details help people nearby recognize it.

Lost someone in a crash like this?

Here is what families in Alabama usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.

  2. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  3. Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.

  4. Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
