The Late-Night Motorcycle Crash on IH 10 E

Police said the crash happened at 11:23 p.m. near Millican Drive. The motorcycle was headed eastbound on IH 10 E at Graytown Road, with a 30-year-old woman as his passenger. Police identified the driver as Dakota Thompson, 32. Police said construction had closed the Graytown Road ramp, and that Thompson steered into the grassy median, lost control and went down. According to police, the woman sustained serious bodily injury.

Help for people affected by a crash is below.

What the San Antonio Police Investigation Involves

Police said the case is listed as an intoxication assault investigation. According to the department, Thompson was evaluated on suspicion of that offense and arrested on that charge. The San Antonio Police Department gave its account based on early information from the investigation.

An arrest is not a conviction. The case moves through the courts, and the full process can take many months.

Affected by an accident like this?

Here is what people in Texas usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.

  2. Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.

  3. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  4. Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
