Emergency dispatch records showed the crash was reported at about 10:51 a.m. The motorcycle collided with a car. The Gresham Fire Department said the motorcycle ended up against an outside wall of a Cold Stone Creamery and then caught fire. Crews inspected the building and determined the flames had stayed outside. Medical personnel from American Medical Response evaluated the motorcyclist at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. Officials have not yet said how serious the motorcyclist's injuries were. No charges have been announced, and the identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.

Roads are often closed for hours after a serious crash so investigators can measure and photograph the scene before anything is moved.

Affected by an accident like this?

Here is what people in Oregon usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.

  2. Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.

  3. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  4. Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
