Silvia Resendez Killed in Vinton Accident
Eastbound Interstate 10 highway lanes closed following fatal wreck as traffic diverted
Silvia Resendez, 75, was killed in a late Thursday night crash on Interstate 10 near mile marker 2 in Vinton, Texas, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators believe a Honda Civic struck the back of a flatbed trailer carrying a silver Dodge pickup, which was being towed by a white GMC truck driven by a 29-year-old man. Authorities indicated the Honda triggered the collision, though the GMC driver was found to be impaired.
Resendez was a passenger in the Honda and died from her injuries.
The driver of the car was taken to a hospital and remains in stable condition.
All eastbound lanes of the highway were closed following the wreck, with traffic diverted onto South Desert Boulevard.
