How the Guthrie Cemetery Road Crash Unfolded

The Georgia State Patrol said the collision happened at about 7:20 p.m. Friday. The driver of a gray Toyota Prius, Shaquail Walker of Snellville, was northbound on the road near Copper Ridge Road. The driver of a gray Hyundai Sonata, Hunter Morris of Oxford, was southbound.

The patrol said both vehicles stopped on the east shoulder, with the Prius resting on its passenger side. Walton County Fire Rescue said firefighters had to extricate one patient, and the Georgia State Patrol said that was Walker. Walton County EMS took three people to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Help for people affected by a crash is below.

What Georgia State Patrol Reported After the Crash

The Georgia State Patrol worked the crash. The patrol said Morris failed to maintain his lane and the Sonata struck the Prius head-on in the northbound lane. According to the patrol, Morris received a citation for failure to maintain lane and a warning for speeding. No other charges have been announced.

Police often ask witnesses to come forward in the days after a crash. Even a small detail from someone who saw it can help fill in the picture.

Affected by an accident like this?

Here is what people in Georgia usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.

  2. Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.

  3. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  4. Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
