Timmy Devillier Killed in Eunice Car Accident

The crash occurred near Mariaun Road, claiming two lives.
Timmy Devillier, 68, of Mamou, and Andrew Godeaux, 25, of Mamou, both died in a two-vehicle car accident on Louisiana Highway 13 near Mariaun Road in Eunice, Evangeline Parish, on March 2, 2026, according to Louisiana State Police Troop I. A 2008 GMC Sierra, driven by Devillier, was driving north. A 2017 Ford F-150, driven by Godeaux, was heading south. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC crossed the centerline and struck the other vehicle head-on. Devillier, who wore a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Godeaux, who was not restrained, also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation by the agency.
The head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 13, which resulted in the deaths of Timmy Devillier and Andrew Godeaux, presents several areas for inquiry concerning driver behavior and vehicle dynamics. Police reported that Devillier's northbound 2008 GMC Sierra crossed the centerline, striking Godeaux's southbound 2017 Ford F-150. Both drivers died at the scene.
"What scares me about large commercial rigs is how one small mistake can lead to a massive loss of life," said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. While the crash involved pickup trucks rather than commercial rigs, the principle of a single error leading to severe consequences holds true for the March 2 incident.
Attorney Bond also stressed the importance of understanding driver experience, stating, "Most people don't realize that last-mile delivery vans are often driven by less experienced workers under extreme time pressure. Telematics data from these fleets can show if a driver's phone was being used." Although the victims' occupations were not released, Bond's comments highlight potential factors like driver inexperience or distraction that often appear in accident investigations. Toxicology results, which authorities are still processing, may also shed light on impairment as a cause in this incident.
