2 Killed, 1 Injured in Charleston County Car Accident
Two people died and another driver was taken to a hospital after a crash before dawn on the Don Holt Bridge.
Two people were killed and a third was taken to a hospital after a car crash on the Don Holt Bridge in Charleston County on October 25, according to officials.
What Happened on the Don Holt Bridge
The crash happened at about 2:51 a.m. The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the drivers who died as Robert Brown, 49, of West Ashley, and Jake Stevens, 35, of Radstock, U.K. Officials said Brown was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when his vehicle struck Stevens' vehicle head-on. Both men died at the scene, officials said.
A third vehicle was also involved, and its driver received treatment at a local hospital. Several lanes on Clements Ferry Road were closed for hours after the crash.
Where the North Charleston Police Inquiry Stands
The North Charleston Police Department is investigating the crash. The coroner's office released the names of the two men on Tuesday. No charges have been announced.
Investigators write down the weather, lighting and road surface after every serious crash. Recording those details is routine and does not point to any single cause.

Here is what families in South Carolina usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
