Three people were killed and three others were injured in a head-on car crash on Hill Avenue in Toledo on Oct. 31, according to Toledo police.

How the Hill Avenue Crash Unfolded

Toledo police said the crash happened at 11:12 p.m. near Wenz Road in South Toledo. Tewan Terry, 19, was at the wheel of an eastbound Dodge Charger, and his passengers were Antonio Adams, 17, Rodney Buchanan, 16, and Jovan Kyles, Jr., 17. Police said the Charger collided with a westbound Chevy Blazer. Nasir Johnson, 26, was driving the Blazer, and Myron Austin, 28, rode with her. Police said everyone involved lives in Toledo. Terry and Adams died at the scene. Johnson and Austin were taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where Johnson died. Buchanan and Kyles were taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

Where the Toledo Police Investigation Stands

Toledo police said the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been announced, and police have not released further details about the crash.

People often hear very little from investigators in the first days after a crash. That quiet is normal while evidence is gathered, and it does not mean the case has stalled.

Lost someone in a crash like this?

Here is what families in Ohio usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.

  2. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  3. Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.

  4. Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
