A 10-year-old boy was killed in a pedestrian crash on Middle Tennessee Boulevard in Murfreesboro on October 30, according to Murfreesboro Police.
What Happened on Middle Tennessee Boulevard
The crash happened just before 9 p.m. near Silver Court, the night before Halloween. Police said the boy had run across the road from a church to get a soccer ball. Police said he was on his way back toward the church when a Jeep Gladiator hit him in the roadway. According to police, the Jeep's driver was doing rideshare work at the time and had just come onto the boulevard with a right turn from Southeast Broad Street. Police said a passenger was also in the Jeep.
Where the Murfreesboro Police Investigation Stands
The department's Fatal Accident Crash Team is looking into what happened. No charges have been filed.
Investigators work quickly at the scene because marks on the road and other evidence fade fast. Much of the slower work happens later, away from the scene.

Here is what families in Tennessee usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
