Child Injured in Darke County Off‑Road Vehicle Accident
A 12-year-old boy from Versailles was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital after a UTV overturned on State Route 185 in Darke County.
A 12-year-old boy from Versailles was injured in an off-road vehicle crash on State Route 185 in Darke County on November 1, according to the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
What Happened on State Route 185
The sheriff's office put the time of the crash at 2:50 p.m., along the 11,500 block of the route. The sheriff's office said a camouflage-patterned Polaris UTV was heading east when it overturned onto the road. The boy was driving, and the sheriff's office said he was thrown from the vehicle.
His 52-year-old passenger, also from Versailles, stayed on the UTV and climbed off it before first responders arrived. Ansonia Rescue transported the boy to Dayton Children's Hospital. The passenger was treated at the scene and released.
Where the Darke County Sheriff's Investigation Stands
The Darke County Sheriff's Office said the crash remains under active investigation. No charges have been announced, and the office has not released further details about the boy's condition.
Investigators work quickly at the scene because marks on the road and other evidence fade fast. Much of the slower work happens later, away from the scene.

Here is what people in Ohio usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
