Driver Injured in Thermal Car Accident
The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on Harrison Street near Avenue 60 and brought down utility lines.
A driver was injured in a car crash on Harrison Street in Thermal on October 27, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Early Morning Crash on Harrison Street
The California Highway Patrol said officers were trying to stop a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder that was heading north on Harrison Street near Avenue 63. The agency said the driver lost control as he approached Avenue 60 and struck a stop sign and a utility pole on the right shoulder. Cal Fire crews responded to the single-vehicle crash around 2:15 a.m. and reported downed utility lines. The California Highway Patrol said the 18-year-old driver was alone and had minor injuries.
Where the Investigation Stands in Thermal
The California Highway Patrol said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and evading police. Firefighters asked the Imperial Irrigation District for help with the lines. As of 6 a.m., the district listed 15 customers without power in the Thermal area and had not given a time for the power to return. It has not been confirmed whether the crash caused the outage.
An arrest is not a conviction. The case moves through the courts, and the full process can take many months.

Here is what people in California usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
