The crash happened overnight on Old Raleigh Road, and a 5-year-old child was airlifted to ECU Hospital in critical condition.
A man was killed and a 5-year-old child was critically injured in a car crash on Old Raleigh Road in Wilson County on November 1, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The Overnight Crash on Old Raleigh Road
The State Highway Patrol said the driver was going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone. Troopers said they tried to stop the Camaro, and the patrol said the car then sped up to more than 100 mph. Troopers said that after a brief chase, the car left the road and struck a tree. The driver died at the scene. An ambulance took the child to Wilson Medical Center, and the child was then airlifted to ECU Medical Center in Greenville, where the child was listed in critical condition.
What the State Highway Patrol Has Not Released
The State Highway Patrol has not released the names of those involved in the crash. No charges have been announced. The child's condition has not been updated beyond critical.
Investigators write down the weather, lighting and road surface after every serious crash. Recording those details is routine and does not point to any single cause.

Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
