A 21-year-old Glendale Heights man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Grand Avenue at Lamont Road in Elmhurst on October 27, according to Elmhurst police.
The Afternoon Collision on Grand Avenue
Officers and firefighters were sent to the intersection at about 4:27 p.m. after 911 callers reported a serious crash. Police said an early look at the scene indicated the motorcycle was heading west on Grand Avenue while a box truck was heading east when the two vehicles collided. Police said the motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries.
His name was being withheld while his family was notified. Police said the box truck's driver, a 61-year-old man from Schaumburg, was not hurt. He remained at the scene.
Where the Elmhurst Police Investigation Stands
Elmhurst police are investigating the crash, and police said the truck's driver is cooperating with investigators. Police asked anyone with information to call the department at (630) 530-3050.
When police say a crash is still under investigation, it usually means they are still collecting evidence and have not reached any conclusions.

Here is what families in Illinois usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
