The Late Night Crash on Mission Boulevard
The collision happened at about 11:15 p.m. Investigators with the Hayward Police Department said a stolen blue Nissan Sentra traveling north on Mission Boulevard hit Sena while he was in a crosswalk. Sena was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver and one passenger ran from the car on foot before officers arrived.
Where the Hayward Police Search Stands
Police said people who saw the crash followed the passenger, and responding officers located and detained that person. The driver has not been located, police said. Authorities said the Nissan had been reported stolen in Fremont on Oct. 22. Police asked anyone with information to call the Hayward Police Department Traffic Bureau.
Hit-and-run investigations can stay open for months. Some are solved long after the crash, when a new tip or piece of video comes in.
