The crash happened outside EVE Pet Hospital at Gilbert Road and Broadway Road, where a veterinary technician was hurt.
A veterinary technician at EVE Pet Hospital in Mesa was hurt in a hit-and-run car crash on Gilbert Road, where the driver left the scene.
How the Gilbert Road Hit-and-Run Unfolded
Hospital manager Elana Gulla said a couple brought a sick cat to EVE Pet Hospital, at Gilbert Road and Broadway Road. Gulla said the couple returned a few hours later while the cat remained in the hospital's care. She said the woman then took the cat from the exam room and left, and the technician followed outside. The technician was struck by the vehicle, and Gulla then called police. She said the technician was hurt but is doing OK.
Where the Mesa Police Search Stands
Mesa police have opened an investigation and are still trying to learn who the couple are. Police asked anyone with information to call them. No arrests or charges have been announced.
A hit-and-run case does not close just because time passes. Some are solved months later when someone comes forward or new video surfaces.

Affected by an accident like this?
Here is what people in Arizona usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
