At Least 1 Injured in Lake County Truck Accident
Oregon State Police said minor injuries occurred when a pickup and a semi collided on US-20 in Lake County on October 26.
A pickup pulling a travel trailer and a semi hauling a loaded flatbed collided on US-20 near milepost 73 in Lake County on October 26, and Oregon State Police said minor injuries occurred. The agency has not said who was hurt.
How the US-20 Crash Near Milepost 73 Unfolded
Oregon State Police said emergency crews were called to the crash at about 4 p.m. Police said Bret Ty Boyd, 63, was driving an eastbound gray Ford F-150 with a travel trailer, and Philip Raymond Joanis, 70, of Bend, was driving a westbound white semi-tractor with a loaded flatbed. Police said the pickup crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and that Joanis tried to steer away from it. Police said the two vehicles then met head-on near the front driver's-side corner of the semi, which went down a steep embankment with its trailer. The pickup stopped upright in the road, and its travel trailer tipped onto its passenger side.
What Oregon State Police Reported After the Crash
The tipped trailer blocked both lanes of the highway for a time, and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Oregon State Police said that after the initial investigation, Boyd was cited for failure to drive within lane. The investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators work quickly at the scene because marks on the road and other evidence fade fast. Much of the slower work happens later, away from the scene.

Here is what people in Oregon usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
