Driver Injured in Ogle County Car Accident
The driver has been identified as Jon Novak, 61, of Naperville, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a crash on Adeline Road.
Jon Novak, 61, of Naperville, was injured in a car crash at the intersection of Adeline and Coffman roads in Ogle County on November 4, according to the Ogle County Sheriff's Office.
How the Adeline Road Crash Unfolded
Deputies responded to the rural intersection at about 7:38 a.m. Investigators identified the other driver as Timmie Kaffenbarger, 68, of Oregon, who was heading north on Adeline Road in a 2022 GMC Sierra towing a horse trailer. Investigators said Novak was driving a 2023 Honda Ridgeline east when his pickup hit the trailer.
Authorities said the Honda ended up beyond the north edge of the intersection, where it burned. Novak got out of the vehicle on his own, and German Valley EMS took him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said the GMC and trailer jackknifed before coming to rest.
What the Sheriff's Office Reported After the Crash
The sheriff's office said Kaffenbarger did not stop at the stop sign and drove through the intersection. The sheriff's office said Kaffenbarger received a citation for disregarding a traffic control device. The sheriff's office has not announced any other charges.
Investigators often ask nearby homes and businesses for camera video soon after a crash. Many systems record over old footage after a few days or weeks, so they move fast.

Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
