The Early Morning Crash on I-10 in Whitewater
Officers were called to the eastbound lanes of the freeway at about 2:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol said the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe pulling a trailer in the No. 4 lane lost control. The patrol said the vehicle veered left and struck the guard rail in the center divider. Rodriguez was the right front passenger. The patrol said she was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the Tahoe. She was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics arrived. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Riverside, had minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.
What the California Highway Patrol Is Still Examining
The California Highway Patrol said the investigation was ongoing. The patrol said it does not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role. Officials have not announced any charges. Anyone with information was asked to call 760-772-5300.
