Pedestrian Killed in Shelby Accident
The pedestrian has been identified as Bo Anderson, who was struck and killed while walking in his Shelby neighborhood on Thursday night.
Bo Anderson was killed in a pedestrian crash while walking in his Shelby neighborhood on October 29, according to Shelby Police.
How the Shelby Pedestrian Crash Unfolded
Shelby Police said the driver who struck Anderson did not stop. Police said a different motorist saw him in the road and called for help. Anderson had phoned his wife on Thursday night to say he was heading home from a walk around the neighborhood. About 30 minutes later she grew worried and went looking for him, and she found first responders working to save him near the entrance to the neighborhood. Anderson was the father of two children with special needs, and his stepdaughter said he liked to take walks in the community.
Where the Shelby Police Search Stands
Police returned to the neighborhood on Monday and went door to door to ask whether anyone has security camera video that could help locate the driver. Neighbors said they did not hear a crash that night, and many have their cameras aimed away from the street. Anderson's family hopes the driver, or someone who knows the driver, will come forward.
In a hit-and-run, the first weeks are usually about finding the vehicle. Tips and home camera video from neighbors often matter most.

Here is what families in North Carolina usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
