1 Injured in Van Buren Truck Accident
The crash on I-690 East near the Thruway and Jones Road exits sent traffic off the highway on Monday evening.
One person was injured in a truck crash on I-690 East near the Thruway and Jones Road exits in Van Buren on Nov. 2, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatches.
How the I-690 East Truck Crash Unfolded
Callers began contacting 911 at about 4:45 p.m. Onondaga County 911 dispatches said callers reported that a tractor trailer had crashed, rolled onto its side and was leaking fluids. Callers described a driver walking around outside the vehicle, and dispatchers said the driver reported minor injuries. First responders reported that fluid and fuel were leaking from the truck and asked at about 4:55 p.m. for the road to be closed. Officers said a heavy-duty rig would have to be brought in to raise the truck from where it came to rest.
What Comes Next for the I-690 Traffic Backup
Traffic was initially diverted off I-690 East at the Jones Road exit, and the entrance onto the highway at Jones Road was also closed. At 5:15 p.m., one lane on the highway was opened. The connecting ramp from the Thruway stayed closed at that point. No cause for the crash has been announced.
When police say a crash is still under investigation, it usually means they are still collecting evidence and have not reached any conclusions.
