1 Injured in Chicago Truck Accident
The crash happened Monday afternoon on southbound I-90 at Kimball Avenue, and a diesel spill shut the lanes.
At least one person was injured in a truck crash on southbound I-90 at Kimball Avenue in Chicago on Monday, according to Illinois State Police.
The Monday Afternoon Crash on I-90
Illinois State Police said troopers were sent to the southbound lanes at about 2:34 p.m. The crash involved two commercial motor vehicles and a car. Police said one person was taken to an area hospital, and the extent of the injuries was not known. Crews from the fire department dealt with a diesel spill from the wreck, and the southbound lanes were closed while they did so.
What Is Known About the I-90 Closure
Traffic backed up for miles on the inbound Kennedy Expressway. A map service showed vehicles at a standstill across about 3.5 miles, from North Harlem Avenue to North Kedzie Avenue. Photos from the scene showed Chicago Fire Department vehicles across every lane. Authorities have not released more information about the crash or the people involved.
Investigators write down the weather, lighting and road surface after every serious crash. Recording those details is routine and does not point to any single cause.

Here is what people in Illinois usually need, in the order it comes up.
Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.
Your vehicle. Tow yards usually charge for every day a towed vehicle sits there.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
