The Morning Collision on North Basin Avenue
Emergency crews were sent to the scene at about 8:47 a.m. Portland Fire & Rescue said the crash involved a UPS semi-truck and a sedan, and the driver of the car was pinned inside. Firefighters removed the roof and one side of the car to reach him. The man, whose name and age have not been released, stayed alert while crews worked. He was taken to a hospital with significant injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
What Is Known After the Rescue
Portland Fire & Rescue has not released further details about the crash. The agency has not said whether the truck driver was hurt. No charges have been announced.
Roads are often closed for hours after a serious crash so investigators can measure and photograph the scene before anything is moved.
